@insight, I wrote about a misconception I sometimes see about critical thinking: that we can teach it as if it were merely a process with prescribed steps, rather than a body of knowledge as well as a methodology. Yep - saw it. You can teach CT principles, and you can teach problem-solving methods, but you do have to apply both to the solving of problems. The application and practice (+ feedback) is how the learning happens.
