Registration for those age 16 and 17 for a COVID-19 vaccine appointment will start tomorrow, Tuesday. It's important that we continue to get as many of our population vaccinated as soon as vaccines are available and following the safety advice of our experts.pic.twitter.com/obZmHN0MD1
Well over 5.5 million doses now administered. A huge thanks to all the vaccinators and the staff in our vaccine centres across the country, as well as the GPs, pharmacists and all involved.pic.twitter.com/wXWQbIJxzo
Disease incidence in Ireland is continuing to increase
The national 14-day incidence rate has increased from 93/100,000 in week of 24 June to 246/100,000 today
The 5-day moving average of cases has increased from 300 to 1,182 cases/day over the same period
Just over two weeks since Minister
@DonnellyStephen opened pharmacy vaccination to 18-34 yr olds, pharmacies have vaccinated well over 100,000 people. Well done to pharmacy teams everywhere! #VaccinesWork #ThinkPharmacy #GoTeamPharmacy

Over 100,000 people now vaccinated against COVID-19 in Irish pharmacies!
Most are young people who would otherwise not yet be vaccinated.
Anyone still waiting for an appointment, please be patient. Increased supply of Janssen vaccine expected from early August
Ireland is 12th in the OECD for vaccines administered, but is currently vaccinating its population THE FASTEST (7-day rolling average). Australia is second last (to NZ) in vaccines administered and is the 23rd-fastest vaccinator this week.pic.twitter.com/rizUbjwlGS
You can read the full details here: https://www.gov.ie/en/press-release/86009-hse-to-directly-pay-cost-of-prescriptions-for-eligible-patients-treated-under-ministerial-licence/ … Thanks to my colleague
@AindriasMoynih1 for his support on this issue.
To date eligible patients or their families were required to pay the pharmacy directly and apply to the HSE for a refund of the cost of the prescribed products which placed a financial burden on those patients or their families.
Really pleased to announce that the refund system for eligible patients who obtain their prescribed cannabis-based products from the Netherlands will be replaced by a direct payment system from the HSE to the dispensing pharmacy in the Netherlands.
124 patients were admitted to ICU with Covid in the 3 months to the end of June. Some had received one of a two-dose vaccine. Just 1 patient was fully vaccinated/protected (14 days from 2nd dose). This means just 1 admission to ICU was classified as a true breakthrough infection.
Our vaccination programme is moving at pace. Our vaccines are remarkably effective against severe illness. But it is so important to get your second dose (of Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna) and ensure you are fully protected.
It is absolutely appalling that public health doctors advising Government would be targeted with abuse for doing their jobs in the middle of a pandemic. They have worked relentlessly throughout Covid and have difficult jobs to do. They deserve our respect and support.
@MaryButlerTD on getting this important legislation through the Oireachtas. It means after a 3 year period the value of family-owned farms and businesses will not be taken into account when calculating the cost of a person’s nursing home care.https://twitter.com/roinnslainte/status/1416095350990024706 …
No other party has done anything like Fianna Fáil in the history of our country in the provision of housing, healthcare and public services.
We are determined to once again house our people, improve healthcare, and fund it by a sustainable economy.

Our COVID-19 vaccination programme is a huge success. The 5 millionth dose will be administered today. We are ahead of schedule so those age 25-29 can now register. Vaccinations are our way to beat this awful virus. We must keep going, stay safe and mind each other.pic.twitter.com/wdnx8zR7WX
