#NoTimeToDie again this morning. It's growing on me. Little moments and details I'd missed on first watching stood out this time. Probably my second favourite Bond of Craig's run after Casino Royale.
With Gaetz and Jordan showing up to try and disrupt the hearing, Rep. Torres throws greatest shade ever at them: “This is not about somebody paying to have sex with a young girl, or somebody not protecting people that are under their jurisdiction. This is about our democracy.”pic.twitter.com/kBramkbrTI
New by me: Eight reasons not to ban anonymity online.https://sambowman.substack.com/p/eight-reasons-not-to-ban-anonymity …
Sighs, resets the "Days since privileged wealthy straight white man thinks removing online anonymity is a good thing" sign.https://twitter.com/JolyonMaugham/status/1449655961652760579 …
Does seem odd that the focus in so much of the papers around David Amess's murder is around political discourse. I'm all in favour of less shouty/angry hyperbole in politics but it wasn't why he was killed.
Jo Cox’s murder had an immediately apparent link to toxic political discourse; that isn’t (yet) the case with David Amess. And yet we’re talking about issues like anonymity in social media, which feels like a conversation strangely disconnected from the actual tragedy.
NEW: people obsess over vaccine uptake stats, eagerly comparing one country to others to see which has jabbed the highest share of its population, but what if I told you many — perhaps most — of those stats are wrong? Time for a thread on bad Covid data and how it can cost lives
As a prosecutor, I have lost count of the cases I have had to drop because complainants have simply given up after having their trial adjourned for the third time. Government cuts mean we don’t have enough courts, judges, barristers or solicitors. And there’s no plan to fix it.https://twitter.com/jessphillips/status/1448332056153542660 …
obviously I don't know what witnessing the chaos of an atomic bomb explosion would be like but it can't be dissimilar to opening a page on the independent website
I love how my vet has a special ASBO cat booking protocol whereby you just ring them when you finally manage to trap your beast and they squeeze you in, rather than trying to get your cat to abide by a scheduled appointment
