The old church at Llanfaglan was never big or rich. In its heyday, the parish population was barely 200, and when the church inventory was made in 1788 it listed a silver chalice, a board of Ten Commandments that were almost invisible, and "one ladder, two spades, two shovels".pic.twitter.com/T4TlMFMjmW
A volunteer will be on hand at Waddesdon Strict and Particular Baptist Chapel in Bucks this weekend.
This humble Non-Conformist chapel, founded by a farmer, has a full immersion baptistry beneath a trapdoor.
#HeritageOpenDays: Sat 18 & Sun 19 Sep, 2-4pm
The doors at St Helen's, Barmby on the Marsh were added around 1773, when Georgians gave the church a bit of a smartening up. Underneath the thick emulsion on the outer faces, we revealed centuries of initials - names of people long gone, their identities lost to the past.pic.twitter.com/7DijqcsHJF

Harry (our new newsletter editor), Andrew (Field Officer), and trustees Catherine and Simon, braved a dark, narrow spiral staircase up to the roof of the tower of St Helen’s, Skeffling, Yorkshire (built 1460s). What a view!pic.twitter.com/q0qAO1Z6rS
We’re on tour! Our trustees are meeting face to face for the first time since 2019, and visiting FoFC churches (and a few more!) in beautiful Yorkshire. First up, St Helen’s in Barmby on the Marsh. Here’s trustee Alex Barrow glimpsed through the south and north porches.pic.twitter.com/xi65NM53LO
Morning. An unusually jolly - not to say hilarious -
@TheRestHistory today ...
Former Person of the Year winner @MorleyRA, director of @friendschurches, talks us through BRITAIN'S TOP CHURCHES.

We’ve done a lot - mostly invisible: drainage, structural tying of the nave walls and vestry, and re-roofing the nave. There’s more to do, there’s always more to do, but not a bad turnaround after 10 months in our care. Opening arrangements coming soon.pic.twitter.com/RNTM0isrPn
